Off Season Conditioning

Viera Wrestling Offseason Schedule

What: Offseason workouts (Drilling/Conditioning/Lifting/Wrestling).

Compete in Tournaments (both AAU and USA Wrestling)

Attend Camp

Who: Any current or future Viera High School wrestler

Why: One cannot be successful during the season without working during the offseason

When: Tuesday and Wednesday 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Viera High School

Monday and Wednesdays 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Melbourne High School

Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Palm Bay High School

Mondays and Wednesdays 4:00 pm to 5:45 pm at Merritt Island High

Tournaments: Participate in AAU and USA tournaments across the state of Florida

April 6^th AAU at Astronaut HS

April 13^th AAU at Palm Bay HS

April 13^th USA at Lakeland HS

April 20^th AAU at Viera HS

April 27^th AAU Spring States at George Jenkins HS

May 4^th AAU at Astronaut HS

May 4^th USA at Lakeland HS

May 11^th AAU at Flaglar

May 18^th USA at Brandon HS

Camp: Iowa Camp at Gateway HS ($125 or $30 per session) see brochure

May 29^th 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm (session 1)

May 30^th 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm (session 2)

May 31^st 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm (session 3)

June 1^st 10:00 am to 1:00 pm (session 4 and 5)

Cost: All wrestlers must have an AAU card to participate in practices and tournaments. Cards can be obtained at http://aausports.org use club code XTDT94. If you purchased a card last year after 8/31/12, it is still valid. USA card is required if you wrestle in a USA sanctioned tournament.

The wrestling banquet is scheduled for March 6th in the school cafeteria. The team will be recognized on Wednesday 6:30 p m to 8:00 pm.

Admission: $7.00 per session. There will be one session on Friday and Two on Saturday (Semi-finals and finals). We will clear the gym between the conclusion of wrestle backs and the start of the finals

District Results

The team earned 4th place at the Class 3A-District 5 wrestling tournament. The team placed 7 wrestlers. The following are Regional Qualifiers:

Viera Wins CCC

The Hawks wrestling team won the Cape Coast Conference Tournament with 6 placers. Hunter Waite (132), Terrence Hughes (182) and Terrell Hughes (195) won their individual championship. Josh Amos (138) earned 2nd. Blake Mahl (220) an J osh Carraway (285) finished in 3rd. It was a team effort starting with coaches to the parents and ultimately with the wrestlers.

Cape Coast Conference Tournament Info

Place: Bayside High School

Date: Friday and Saturday, January 25-26, 2013

Cost: $250.00 make check payable to Bayside High

School Athletics

Format: Double Elimination Tournament

Champions will receive jackets

Four places being awarded medals

Team Trophies for the first and second place teams.

The large traveling trophy that will go with the winner of the tournament each year.
